Getting your kids to eat healthy foods is always a challenge for any parent. I know that most of the time my kids would rather have junk food or foods that they are not supposed to have rather than the healthier meals that I make. In talking to other parents I have found that they have the same issue when they feed their young ones. Here are a couple of tips that I have found out that have managed to help me in getting my kids to enjoy some of the finer foods that are available.
The first tip that I have found that has helped me out tremendously is to expose them to multiple types of food at any one time. Now this doesn’t mean that I make a ten course meal each night, but I do manage to make a wide variety of high quality meals each week so that they do not get bored of having the same thing each day. With this larger variety of available items they have a tendency to eat better and enjoy a wider variety of in season meals.
The second tip that I have is to make sure that you do not provide the bad foods to them all the time. I know that I am guilty of doing this just as much as all parents, but you want to try to stop them from seeing these foods or where they are stored. If they figure out the storage area they will try to get the food out themselves like mine do now. Which is not funny when you turn your back only to hear the tremendous crash of items being pulled out of your cabinet by your kids. So I have discovered that if I hide the food that I do not want them to have and not give them this option they are also more likely to eat the foods that I make and want them to eat.
